Functional Groups and Macromolecules
Functional Groups
The "R" in each functional group represents a Hydrocarbon (alkyl group), an organic chemical compound composed of carbon and hydrogen.
A macromolecule is a large complex molecule, such as nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids, with relatively large molecular weight.
A linkage (or bond) is a covalent bond which connects their respective molecules into a macromolecule.
